Proving durability carpet with hexapod tests and other such experiments in a laboratory doesn’t really matter when it’s in your home. So Mohawk and DuPont decided to put SmartStrand through the ultimate test: The living room of a Black Rhinoceros. The SmartStrand Rhino Challenge really shows how durable the carpet really is. |

This carpet is environmentally smart because:
The superior stain resistance of SmartStrand® carpet is engineered into the fiber and will never wear or wash off, meaning consumers will never need to retreat the carpet with stain protectors after steam cleaning.
And this engineered-in stain resistance reaches new levels of protection, allowing tough stains such as mustard, red wine, and cherry Kool-Aid® to be removed simply with warm water and a mild detergent, or with Mohawk FloorCare™ Essentials. The fiber even resists discoloration from bleach.

SmartStrands Triumphs in Durability |

Certified testing includes a “walk test” of more than 20,000 footsteps to simulate an entire year of foot traffic over SmartStrand Triexta, nylon carpet, and PET polyester carpet of different weights. The results by and far demonstrated the superior performance of Triexta’s resiliency and crush resistance.
SmartStrand, nylon, and PET carpets were also analyzed in a Modified Hexapod Test, a mechanical test that simulates the aforementioned walk test in a condensed amount of time.
This demanding assessment proved that SmartStrand performs better than PET and comparable to or better than nylon in even the most strenuous conditions.
These results confirm that we are giving our customers the best product available, an improved option over both nylon and PET polyester carpet.
