The Story of Our Bamboo Flooring
Bamboo flooring is relatively new to the home flooring market in the United States but it is quickly rising in popularity. It is durable, attractive and comes from a sustainable resource, an issue of great concern in today’s world. Most people think of bamboo it its natural form of a cylinder shape and have difficulty in imagining it used in a flooring application. There are commonly three types of bamboo flooring. The first is called solid but is actually made by utilizing strips of bamboo glued together and formed into planks. The second is engineered much like other laminate flooring on the market, a layer of bamboo over a cross-ply core. The last is made from shredded strands of bamboo that are held together with resins and formed into planks.
The high quality bamboo flooring we offer is manufactured by Eco Timber. The company offers solid bamboo as well as one made from a proprietary method developed after years of research by the manufacturer. This bamboo flooring is an Engineered Woven Bamboo made with an eco friendly glue mixture and a drying process that they developed. The woven bamboo floors that they manufacture come close to the hardness of many tropical hardwood floors.
The products used to manufacture all of their floors are formaldehyde-free. You can feel safe in knowing that no harmful chemicals will be emitted into your home by this bamboo floor. That cannot be said about all bamboo floors.
Bamboo flooring can be installed in much the same way as traditional hardwood floors. It can be nailed, floated or glued. In the spirit of maintaining an eco friendly product, we offer an eco friendly underlayment made of 92% post-industrial recycled content. It is, of course, formaldehyde free.
